What is cash flow?
Cash flow is the movement of money in and out of your business. Positive cash flow means more money coming in than going out. A profitable business can still fail if it runs out of cash.
How is cash flow different from profit?
Profit is revenue minus costs on paper. Cash flow tracks when money actually arrives and leaves. You can have invoiced a profit but still have no cash if clients haven't paid yet.
How do I improve cash flow?
Invoice promptly, offer early payment discounts, chase overdue invoices, move to retainers or memberships for predictable income, and keep a cash reserve of 2–3 months' expenses.
